Parrott, a French company specializing in the development of smart devices, has created Flower Power, the first wireless sensor network for plants.
It is an incredible sensor that can assess the needs of plants and alert those who take care of them whenever needed, via instant notifications sent by the application official available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
So with Parrott Flower Power anyone can try their hand at planting and care for plants, like true experts with green thumbs.
The intelligent sensor analyzes 4 basic plant parameters in real time: ambient temperature, sunlight, soil humidity and fertilizer levels in it present. Analysis is carried out on the Parrott Cloud via 3G/4G connection or Wi-Fi. Inside the app you can find a database, developed by botanical experts, with various types of plants (about 6,000 varieties) and with information and advice about their care.
All data is collected every 15 minutes, so the health of plants (whether planted in the soil or inside a pot) and their vital needs are always monitored.
All recorded information is stored at a frequency of 2 hours on your smartphone app via Bluetooth LE (low energy – low energy) technology if you are around the plant equipped with a sensor. Otherwise, if your smartphone is distant from the Flower Power and therefore Bluetooth cannot work, the data is saved in memory for up to 80 days . To receive notifications from the app, you do not need to be around the sensor and then the plant.
The features of Parrott Flower Power are numerous.
With the app you can track the state of the sensors and then the levels of fertilizer (for example, you can plan when to fertilize a plant), the level of humidity (to know when time of watering), water levels, temperature, light, etc. so as to always be alerted if for example the brightness level is poor or if it is time to water the plant.
The device, from the IoT world of gardening, is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, thanks to the waterproof materials used that are robust and able to withstand any kind of temperature (from – 10 at 55°C). Parrott Flower Power is available in 3 different colours: light blue, green and brown and measures 15x20x2 cm.
